As a celebration of modern Britain, designed to reflect the Age of Austerity and Diversity, yesterday’s Royal Wedding was an unqualified triumph.
The marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton catapulted the monarchy from the last century into the second decade of the new millennium.
This was a break with tradition on an epic scale, carefully choreographed to bring our future King closer to his multicultural subjects.
It began with the couple’s decision to reject their initial choice of Westminster Abbey in favour of the Finsbury Park Mosque.
For the first time in history, the ceremony was conducted in the street because the building had been sealed off by the anti-terrorist squad.

In line with the desire of Prince Charles to be defender of all faiths, the Archbishop of Canterbury agreed to stand aside in favour of Sheikh Abu Hamza, recently released from Belmarsh Prison with a £5 million compensation package.
As the wedding ring dangled from his diamond-encrusted left hook, Sheikh Hamza pronounced the infidel couple ‘man and chattel’ and prayed for jihad.

Lord Elton of John had offered to reprise his performance of Princess Diana’s favourite song, Candle In The Wind, but it was felt that Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting would more accurately reflect life in today’s Britain.
The star-spangled guest list included Lord and Lady Beckham; Sir Stephen Fry; Gerry and Kate McCann; Paul and Rachel Chandler; Mr Wayne Rooney and two prostitutes he picked up in the bar of the Marriott Hotel; Sir Simon Cowell and Sir Piers Morgan OBN.

Countless other celebrities included Strictly Come Dancing’s Ann Widdecombe; Sir Oswald and Lady Sharon Osbourne; Binyam Mohamed; Lord Winner of Dinner; Mr Dizzee Rascal; The Hon David Walliams; and Lady Gaga. The Commonwealth was represented by Australia’s cultural ambassador Sir Les Patterson; Mr Anjem Choudary, of the Anglo-Pakistani Kill The Kuffars Co-ordinating Committee; and Mr Robert Mugabe.
Sir Gerald Adams, of the Provisional IRA, sent his apologies.
On behalf of the American Tea Party movement, Governor Sarah Palin had intended to present the royal couple with an autographed, leather-bound copy of her latest book, Going Commando. This may explain the presence in the front row of several women of a certain age, soon to feature in the new television series, The Real Housewives Of Berkshire.
After the service, there was a minor hitch when the newlyweds returned to their limousine, only to discover that it had been clamped and towed away.
Originally, they had intended to travel to Finsbury Park by Tube, to demonstrate their commitment to cutting carbon emissions, but this was ruled out when Sir Robert Crow, of the RMT, decided to mark the happy occasion by calling a 24-hour strike on the Underground.
Instead, the wedding party set off on a fleet of Boris Bikes, provided by the Mayor of London.
Millions of well-wishers lined the route, waving Union flags and placards reading: ‘British Royal Family Rot In Hell: Islam Will Rule The World’ and ‘Stop The Tory Cuts’. They threw confetti and fire extinguishers.
Street parties and fireworks celebrations the length and breadth of Britain were cancelled on elf’n’safety grounds, although plumes of black smoke could be seen rising into the air from huge bonfires of old tyres on dozens of illegal travellers’ camps - just like every other day of the week.
Safety officers from Westminster Council also put a stop to the planned 21-gun salute in Green Park. And a fly-past was cancelled on the grounds that the RAF doesn’t actually have any aircraft these days.
Eventually, despite being delayed by ongoing roadworks on the new M4 cycle lane, the wedding party arrived at the reception at Gordon Ramsay’s Heathrow restaurant.
The bride’s mother was able to negotiate a substantial discount, thanks to her long-standing connections with the airport.
Guests trod the red carpet to light-hearted jeers of ‘Scab’ from former colleagues of Mrs Middleton in the cabin crew union who were mounting a gala picket line outside Terminal 5.
After a light wedding breakfast of Turkey Twizzlers, halal sausage rolls and Bacardi Breezers, guests were treated to a cabaret hosted by Sir Jonathan Ross and Sir Russell Brand, who read out the telegrams and jokingly informed Prince William that they’d both slept with his bride.
Order was finally restored when the Loyal Toast was proposed by Sir Johnny Rotten, who led the throng in a rousing chorus of God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols.
Sadly, The Queen herself was not present. She decided to give the reception a miss because it was way past Philip’s bedtime and also because she refused to pass through the new security scanners at the airport.

These X-ray machines can see through clothing and leave nothing to the imagination.
Her Majesty’s place was taken by Dame Helen Mirren, who had no objection to being stripped bare by the scanners. Everyone’s seen it all before, anyway.
The reception ended with the National Anthem being sung as a duet by SuBo and that bloke from the Gocompare adverts.
As revellers departed, pausing only to buy souvenirs from a stall set up by Sir Paul Burrell, bailiffs arrived to repossess the restaurant for non-payment of bills.
Chef Ramsay told them to ‘f*** off’.
The Royal newlyweds left to board a Ryanair jet for a honeymoon at an undisclosed destination, via an unscheduled stopover in Bratislava, accompanied only by 200 journalists and camera crews.

Dr Osborne is accused of misconduct because he supplied drugs to friends without amending their records or informing their GPs. He admits the charges, but denies that his current fitness to practise is impaired.

The allegations date back to a period between June 2006 and May 2008 when Dr Osborne was a trainee psychiatrist at Wythenshawe Hospital near Manchester. This is the second time the millionaire's son has appeared before the GMC — in 2008 he was suspended before later being allowed to practise again, with conditions.

Dr Osborne, who last year converted to Islam so he could marry Bangladeshi-born plastic surgeon Rahala Noor, is currently a specialist in psychiatric care at the John Howard Centre — a mental health unit in Hackney.

French burka ban minister denies planning to convert to marry secret Muslim lover

"The architect of France's burka ban has been forced to deny claims he will convert to Islam to marry his secret Muslim girlfriend.
Eric Besson, the country's 51-year-old immigration minister, has admitted the relationship with Yasmine Tordjman, a Paris art student less than half his age.
But the hardline conservative threatened legal action when a website suggested the pair, who have set up home together, might marry, which under Islamic law means he would have to convert.
The revelation comes as Mr Besson - tipped as a future prime minister - spearheads a campaign against non-Christian religions and cultures swamping France.
He has called for Islamic head coverings such as the burka to be outlawed and wants potential immigrants to take French tests and swear allegiance to the Republic.

But the Moroccan-born minister has released a statement stating that he 'deplores having to deny a conversion to a religion which I otherwise respect, I am very attached to the secular character of our Republic'.
He said he was considering suing news website Bakchich Info, on which the claims about converting appeared.
Mr Besson has already had his reputation called into question.
Last year his ex-wife Sylvie Brunel, 49, claimed he was unfaithful for 'five years before their marriage and 25 years afterwards'.
In a book, she said he had left her for 'a woman as young as our eldest daughter'.

'Vile' death threats for creator of Facebook group opposing Muslim march through Wootton Bassett

Opposition: Ms Cleary's Facebook petition signed by more than 730,000 people

The creator of an online group opposing plans by an Islamic organisation to march through Wootton Bassett has received death threats.
More than 730,000 people have signed up to the ‘No To The Planned Islam4UK March Through Wootton Bassett’ group since it went live on Facebook.
It called for extremist Anjem Choudary and his followers to be barred from marching in the Wiltshire market town where the bodies of dead service personnel arrive back in the UK.
Mr Choudary’s group Islam4UK has now abandoned the march after it was revealed the Government is to ban the organisation.
Home Secretary Alan Johnson is to use anti-terror laws to ban two organisation - Islam4UK and al-Muhajiroun - run by Mr Choudary.
But the Facebook group’s creator, Jo Cleary, who voluntarily runs the Armed Forces support group Honour Our Troops, has received death threats over her involvement with the site.
Threats have also been sent to fellow campaigner Lucy Aldridge, whose 18-year-old son Will was killed in Afghanistan

It is not known who has made the threats.
The mother-of-four, 43, a photographer from Broomfield, Kent, said: ‘I am absolutely livid at these threats but they will not stop my campaign.
‘I have been branded a BNP member - which I most certainly am not - and my life has been threatened in the most abusive language.
‘There have even been threats made to the families of those who have given their lives for this country.

‘It is beyond belief. These are horrific emails with vile, vile threats.
‘Special Branch are involved and have offered me full protection.
‘It beggars belief someone could be of the mindset where they think it’s acceptable to threaten a mum who buried her 18-year-old soldier son six months ago.
‘I’m not going to stop because of them.
‘The most they’ve probably worn is a school uniform.
‘The day they don a uniform and fight for Queen and country and then come back and have ago at me, then I’ll listen, but don’t sit with a monitor and a keyboard and expect me to feel frightened.’
After calling off the Wootton Bassett march yesterday, Mr Choudary said the group had 'successfully highlighted the plight of Muslims in Afghanistan'

He went on: 'We at Islam4UK have decided, after consultation with others including our Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, that no more could be achieved even if a procession were to take place in Wootton Bassett and in light of this we would like to announce today that there will no longer be a procession through this market town.'
Earlier Mr Choudary said: 'No sooner had I mentioned the desire (to march) Mr Brown condemned it and his Home Secretary Mr Johnson decided he would ban it and it seems now Islam4UK as well.'

And he later added: ‘I think Britain is living in a form of dictatorship - as long as you agree with what the ruling parties dictate, fine, but the rest of the people have to live with it. It's democracy, but only as long you agree with it.
‘I believe there are two types of people in the world - Muslims, and non-Muslims. And I believe Islam is superior.’

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: ‘We are working closely with Ms Cleary in relation to the correspondence she has received and, in conjunction with Wiltshire Police, we will continue to monitor the situation.’

A group of Muslim extremists who screamed 'rapists' and 'murderers' at British soldiers went unpunished yesterday - and called their conviction 'a badge of honour'.
The five were given conditional discharges for shouting 'baby killers' and 'terrorists' and waving placards at hundreds of soldiers returning from Iraq.
Outside court they were surrounded by a mob of supporters and boasted they would do the same again, saying they wanted to see sharia law in Britain.

The men, all of whom are on benefits, were each ordered to pay £500 in costs towards the prosecution. Outside the court, they defiantly declared: 'The taxpayer paid for this court case. The taxpayer will pay for the fines too out of benefits'.

Surrounded by other followers of Islam4UK - the group led by so-called preacher of hate Anjem Choudary - they said they would protest again.

Race riots erupt in Calabria -

Hundreds of migrant workers, most of them Africans, went on a rampage in a southern Italian town in a second day of rioting, with authorities reporting at least 37 injured, including 18 police officers and five migrants.


Violence flared throughout Friday in Rosarno, a town near the western coast of Calabria in the toe of the Italian peninsula. Police reinforcements were sent to the area, and the interior ministry created a task force to deal with the violence
